Goals

Tasks and goals of the PFEM

(Measure catalog according to the Rules and Regulations of the PFEM from November 2009)

The contents and goals of the PFEM are to be taken from the Toblacher Declaration, which represent the PFEM’s mandate of action according to the Linzer Declaration (Linz 2009).

The content and goals are specified as follows:

  1. Winning new members and interested parties for the organization (parent organizations, development associations and trusts at music schools, as well as individuals which feel obliged to the goals of the PFEM.
  2. Build a network of members, partners and other interest groups.
  3. Truss and concentrate the interests oft he parent organizations oft he music schools in Europe.
  4. Communication with members, partners and interest groups (provide information and consultancy and promote co-operation).
  5. Build a co-operation and relationship with institutions that are responsible for the music-cultural education on a European basis – particularly with the European Music School Union (EMU).
  6. Establish contact with the European Commission in Brussels as well as with the European parliament in Strasbourg.
  7. Organization of international parent forums and congresses as part of events organized by the EMU.
  8. Analysis of pan-European publications on education, particularly with regards to the music education.
  9. Public relations regarding the content and goals oft he PFEM.
  10. Guidance on the configuration of the parents associations, development associations and trusts at music schools (local and regional based).
  11. Promotion of education with and through music on all levels.
  12. Importance of public music schools in Europe for the educational and social politics of European countries.
  13. Importance of government spending on education and culture as a compulsory duty for nations (ensure basic standard of culture in society).
  14. Co-operation with the various institutions of the music school research department.
  15. Provide support for the goals of the Weimar Declaration of the European Music School Union on “Music Schools Europe” (1999).
  16. Follow the rules and regulations set out by the UNESCO convention regarding the right for all people to enjoy education, art and culture; as well as the development of a cultural identity (1998) in order to preserve or promote diverse forms of cultural expressions (2005).
